In 2011 over 450 runners from 22 states and Canada came to Olathe, KS to participate in the run. We sent supplies to Bagram AFB in Afghanistan to allow 4000 soldiers to hold their own Patriots' Run. However, throughout the night of 9/10 the enemy barraged the base with rockets and mortars in what was described as the most intense fire ever. For the safety of all involved, the base commander had no choice other than to officially cancel the event. Not all soldiers agreed to that idea, formed their own groups and ran anyway.
The Patriots' Run has evolved into the Patriots' Run Club. The Club now hosts the original Patriots' Run on 9/11, Patriots' Run Afghanistan at a military base, Noble Warriors 5K and is a partner with the Gobbler Grind.
